What are the benefits of using the PuriFresh® Energy Recovery Ventilator?

Most homes in the United States do not meet the minimum ventilation requirements specified for commercial buildings.  Air cleaners using various technologies are advertised for home use, but none of these can replace an adequate supply of fresh air for healthy indoor air!

The PuriFresh® Energy Recovery Ventilator provides the minimum ventilation for an area of 1285 square feet, bringing in fresh air and exhausting stale air, eliminating odors, chemical vapors, and hazardous gasses that would otherwise accumulate indoors.  In providing that ventilation, it provides year round comfort and energy savings through highly effective energy recovery.

The typical home with inadequate ventilation already has more than half the minimum required ventilation through natural infiltration, so you will often only need one inexpensive PuriFresh® Energy Recovery Ventilator to bring your home “up-to-code”.  You won’t need to buy an expensive central unit at many times the cost!

In the hot humid climates of the southeastern US, energy recovery is especially important.  PuriFresh® energy recovery removes most of the excess moisture from the fresh air, without condensation to the liquid state and before the air enters the home, preventing mold and mildew growth.

The PuriFresh® Energy Recovery Ventilator is a true Energy Saving Device.  In many climates, it pays itself back in less than 5 years in reduced heating and electric bills, compared to ventilating without heat or moisture recovery, and it’s a lot more comfortable!

The PuriFresh® Energy Recovery Ventilator can be used to super-ventilate a single room with the door closed to provide:

o       An isolated smoking room;

o       An isolated room for furniture refinishing or hobbies using solvents or creating dust;

o       Rapid removal of fumes during and after painting a room or refinishing floors or woodwork in a room;

o       An isolated room for an invalid with poor control of bodily functions;

o       A well ventilated room for a child who prefers a closed door;

o       A well ventilated bedroom for parents sleeping with the door closed;

o       A kitchen with no exhaust hood;

o       A bathroom;

o       A room with a fireplace or wood stove;

o       A room where pets are kept.

In many of the above applications, the PuriFresh® ERV provides source control of indoor air pollution, the most effective strategy for good Indoor Air Quality, according to the American Lung Association and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

If you “shrink-wrap” you home in winter, using window-sealing kits available at your local hardware store, you need to add one of our PuriFresh® Energy Recovery Ventilators to a window.
